    Hi everyone.

I have recently accepted a position as manufacturing trainer for a contract mfg company. They currently use Alpha ISIS microscopes.

I have done soldering and inspection using stereo scopes for years but always used Leica or something similar. I don't believe the ISIS scopes are suitable for inspection and soldering of SMT components. The facilitators picked them out several years ago when most of the soldering was thru-hole and say they love them but don't use them. The operators don't use them Now the company needs to purchase additional scopes and wants to stick with the same kind. I need something to back up my theory.

Has anyone used this scope before? Any thoughts on these scopes and whether or not they are suitable for our industry. We do work with fine pitch.

    Thanks, any advice is appreciated.

    Marg
