Can there be HIgh Voltage on the pins of a CRT with the machine on and the socket removed but with the aguadac connection in place? The filaments and othew electrode take on a blusih glow when the socket is hooked up, looks like neon gas displays.
Is this normal? The screen remains completely black.

Could there be some gas in the tube?

edit: I'm not really sure if you're saying that there's a glow there when the socket is detached.

There are several causes of blue, or violet glows, and most of them are not a problem. Gas in the tube generally is a problem, and this causes what is best described as a blue haze. Other causes are electrons striking the glass causing it to fluoresce, or from mercury vapor in some tubes. (picture tubes should not have gas or mercury vapor in them AFAIK)
