Common practice. Look at some of the Philips display drivers, they use analog states to lock in the
address (16, using only 2 lines). And I never had a problem with addressing.

Thank you, and all the others, for all your replies. I used to hang
out in this NG from about 1995 until a couple of years ago, then had
to stop reading it because of lack of time and the increasing number
of posts, but amazingly it appears that the quality of the
contributors here remains unmatched by any other newsgroup!
