Ademco Lynx Panel - Phone Troubles

Guys,
A home owner pleading for some help:

Hey just curious if anyone has experience with Ademco Lynx panels and
getting them to dial out from the standard phone jack on the panel.

Mine is all setup menu wise but it fails to dial out to the central
monitoring station when testing. I tested the phone jack(standard),
checks out okay. Plus we have tweaked the panel settings and triple
checked them with the monitoring service. It's still not calling
out....

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading my posting.
Cheers!

Terminals 2 & 3 are tip & ring to the street, 4 & 5 are tip & ring to the
house...you probably have the phone line wired incorrectly

....or a programming error.

THE STANDARD PHONE JACK IS HOUSE PHONES, DEAD WHEN DIALING THE CENTRAL
STATION.

CONNECT YOUR PLUG TO THE CENTER OF THE RJ31 JACK

Thanks for the responses guys. These are a great help.

So hardwire the phone to the terminal screws and forget the RJ31 jack,
leave it empty?

Thanks, this is a HUGE help.

I think we tried that. Or do you mean the terminal screws in the center
of the panel? Geez I feel like a dunce... ;-) A real Homer Simpson
moment....DOH!

Thanks, this is a HUGE help.

Thanks guys....I feel like a dope. ;-)

I was just trying to use the RJ31 jack, thinking that would be enough
to get it to call out. The install book said either the RJ31 or hard
wire the phones to the terminal screws. Oh well, that's why you ask
professionals and not the uncooperative manufacturer.

Thanks!

You can...the jack just makes it easier to disconnect should the alarm seize
the line and not let go and you have to call 911 yourself. As a professional
in a residential situation I wouldn't skip installing the rj where the
homeowner can unplug it...different story for commercial though.

Manufacturers wont talk to homeowners...they don't provide service or
assistance to end users...nor should they, that's our job.
