Activate transistor with piezo disc

I realise this is an old thread but have been trying to do this with varying success too.

It is a bit easier than you ended up wiring though, and i'm not sure if it is to do with the transistor you used or what else it could have been. What I can tell you though is that this works:

It is a very sensitive 27mm piezo disc that I used. It can actually create up to 60v if hit correctly! But it would not normally be hit that way and usually creates 1 to 10v. I put a rectifying diode across the piezo leads to limit negative voltage.

As the filename describes I am going to activate a drum with each touch of the piezo, (8 piezos in total) and as it is in the diagram, it is very sensitive to touch!

Piezos are high voltage mfs! I'm going to make a side project where I put 20 of them with springs between, and allow the additave voltage to touch the users hand :).
