Hello everyone my name is SingedVapor, and I'm new here. I came here looking for help on a project that I may start working on (granted I can figure out what i'm doing). I come from ECF, as our modding forum there is not very active and I need help from people who know what they are doing as I do not. I don't know if any of you guys have used electronic cigarettes but I am building one. A larger one at that. Instead of relying on a 18650 battery, as most of our mods do, I am trying to create a passthrough unit that can output Volts to a 510 connection. My biggest problem is that I have never worked with AC so i'm not entirely sure what I'll need to make this project a reality.

Yes these aren't schematics by any means, but it was more to get an idea of what i'm creating. I'm not sure what chip I should use or... Actually I'm not sure much of anything as of yet that I can use for this. Basically the housing would sit on a desk or table, plugged into the wall, on the side would be a switch to turn the unit on or off. A cable would lead from the front, to a handle and on the handle would be the switch which would apply power to the 510 connection. If this thing could fire up to 12v that would be great. And it would need to be able to read the Ω of the coil on the Atomiser with short circuit prevention in case of the coil being messed up. I have wired a few circuits before, Mainly things like a DNA20 and 30 chip to a dual 18650 battery casing, but I have never worked with anything like this before so keep that in mind when you respond please.

Thanks in advance for any and all help :)

    hi there SingedVapor,

    'welcome to the forums :)

you said .... I come from ECF .... what is ECF ?
OK what is a 510 connection ? can you provide a link?
what sort of atomiser ? do you have a link to one that you have in mind ?

    I have never heard of a DNA20 ? googling found this .... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...0-arlo-dual-18650-dna20-30-step-step-how.html

is that related to what you are doing ?

    cheers
    Dave

Hello Dave, ECF is the Electronic Cigarette Forum, and is actually the link you posted. :D I just meant that, that is the forum I'm used to using for all these questions.

A 510 connection is the standard connection used in most vaporizers, http://www.madvapes.com/diy-parts/connectors/510.html I purchase mine generally from here.

    http://www.evolvapor.com/shop.php

Here are the Data sheets for the chip

    http://www.evolvapor.com/datasheet/dna30.pdf

The DNA20 is a power regulated digital switch-mode DC-DC converter for personal vaporizers, and is refered to as 20 because it goes up to 20 watts.

This is the atomiser I will be using. The coil I build myself, based on preference, but generally will be anywhere from 1.5-0.7 ohms http://www.eciggity.com/veritas-rda-clone-by-tobeco/

I currently have a DNA20 board, but i'm not sure how to wire it up and what I should use for AC conversion. Or if there is even another chip out there that will do it better. :)

there was a pretty good wiring diagram on that page I linked to, did it not answer your Q's ?
