Can anyone tell me if I can control the speed of that ac motor with any of the items in the photo?

    Nope.
Speed is frequency dependent and number of poles dependent, split phase motor.

What type of motor would I need for a cricket bowling machine? Prefer an ac motor

The only 1ph AC induction motors that use RPM control are typically shaded poles motors, fans etc, and this is done with a Triac style controller, most of the cap start/run motors do not control well this way due to dropping out of run at low rpm or on load.
There are some PSC motors as shown in your pic that also have a Triac style controller but generally again it is fan usage only, no good for the application you need.
You are probably better off to get a DC motor off ebay or ex treadmill type.

Ok thanks, would a sewing machine motor work?

Depends on the vintage, older ones were Universal motors that control with a Triac, the later ones are BLDC and require a more specialized method of control.
You need to find out what type you have.
    Max.

I doubt a sewing machine motor would be powerful enough for your application.

Couple of vee belt pulleys for "gearing down" and a variable speed drill from the local hardware store. A " cricket bowling machine" load details elude me at present, sorry.
