    Hi. A friend of mine has an remote controlled garage door. It has a 4 lead 350W AC motor. It has 2 relays to control the rotation direction of the motor
    The wires connections are as follows:
    1. Green/Yellow => Ground
    2. Gray => 240v through a 4a fuse and a transparent control relay
    3. Brown => off position of the white relay which takes power from the transparent
    4. Black => on position of the white relay

    It also has an AC capacitor that supposed to be connected to the motor (parallel or series, i have no idea).
    A few years back the capacitor blew up (he doesn't remember it's capacitance but he thinks it was about 12uf) and my friend replaced it with 16uf (was that a mistake?) it worked ok until yesterday when the capacitor , the 4a fuse and the pcb traces from the relays to the motor connectors blew up. He disconnected the capacitor which was rated for 250v (too little tolerance isn't it?) I bought him a 450v one but now i don't know how to connect it...
    Can you shed some light on this?

    Manufacturers color-code their own systems.
    What's the make and model of your garage door opener?
    It'll help a lot in identifying the wiring.

    I can go and check the motor at my friend's house tomorrow
    if that helps, the board is labeled:
    COMUNE where the gray wire goes
    APRE and CHIUDE where the two other wires go.

    Actually i'm not sure if both brown and black wires connect to the pcb maybe one of them is connected via the capacitor? but it doesn't make sense.
