Hi,

here in UK im on virgin cable (ex ntl) and ive had to switch to the
new (improved) news server but there are no longer any posts visible in
alt.binaries.schematics.electronics.

shame becuase there used to be some interesting stuff posted there.

anyone else finding it hard to get access there?
im wondering what alternatives there are.

If you don't mind a small cost, Forte has a decent usenet feed for USD
2.95/month. You can use it when you're on the road too.

I recovered mine, but I can't remember how. Unsubscribe, then subscribe
again?

Probably fallout from the New York Attorney General's decision to stop
child porn in electronics groups.

You could complain to OFCOM though.

A proper news server. Look at astraweb.

Hugely expensive compared to astraweb, but I did use it myself for a while and
it is good.

Try Motzarella, but not all post show up.

It is working ok for me - showing 4 posts in one thread today.
You /are/ using the binary server and not the text-only server?

it is? hmm thats strange, im using "news.virginmedia.com"
with outlook express.

theres little choice for broadband, but like i said already -
I simply had the wrong group, the one with the s on the end is empty,
I hadnt even noticed there were two until I looked more closely,
