Hello all, I have an assortment of 7 Segment Displays like in the link below in varying sizes and colors, can anybody recommend a suitable filter which would darken the un-illuminated Segments but allow the illuminated Segments to show through clearly, any help here would be great. Colors used is Red, Green, Yellow and white.

    welcome to the forums :)

use a strip of coloured plastic the same colour as the particular display to be used

red over red, green over green etc

If you use all colours in the same display, you need to use a colourless filter with just a slightly reduced transparency. I would start with a smoke coloured filter with 30% light reduction. This will increase the contrast of the display.

Depends on the transparency, but why not try it?
