I have a coin op arcade game called Cyber Cycles by Namco. It is a
twin motorcycles game. to determine if the motorcycle is turning left
or right it uses a pot. This pot is a 40 Degree 1k potentiometer. I
think this has to do with the fact the the motorcycles can only tilt
about 40 Degrees to the left or right so somehow the pots have to
compensate for this. If you put a regular 1k pot in the motorcycles
won't tilt far enough to go around the corners. My question is: What
do they do to different to manufacture these 40 degree pots? Has
anyone read about these before? Do you think they just disguise a
logarithmic pot? Or some other pot? It says 1K and 40 next to the
name. They also list 60 degree and 270 degree pots at Happ controls.
I took a broken one apart and it looks like all of the other ones.
Where can I buy one? Our regular sources want $40.00 each. I don't
have a working one left so I can't really compare. Any help here?

Thanks
Russ

If only 2 terminals are used, you can wire in a standard 6K8 270
degree pot.

If you can get the correct part from your regular source, I suggest
you do so to save time ($) and address the matter of cheaper sources
and subs on a longer-term basis.
