31" RCA tv model:F31633SB,chasis:CTC187CN2,year:Oct96 while the
customer was watching tv for several hours the tv suddenly made a loud
pop/crackling noise then it shut off followed by a loud squeal.I found
the following parts defective:

T4401=2G@5028-B1B=RCA # 223952=$95 CDN
Q4401=BUH517=$10=RCA # 223942
T4301I=horizontal driver transformer's pins required resoldering
CR4106P=PFR851/6,FR302/5=RCA # 164589 or 164590=$10 was leaky but not
shorted
U4101V=STK730-150=$13=RCA # 223948 was fine but I replaced it anyway
RT4201=degauss thermistor needed resoldering
Tuner & micro grounds needed resoldering

After buying all of those expensive parts including the flyback
($95+tx)I am very pissed off as the tv ran fine for about 5 minutes
then the current draw on my Sencore isolation transformer began to
increase until about 1.2 amps then F4001=5 amp fuse popped,why did it
go?I did not get a chance to put it on the bench yet.Thanks in advance
for help on those RCA trouble makers/profit drainers

Just a thought Sidney put the old STK back in and then try again
I had one last week in a Panasonic that blew the fuse , I put back in the
old STK
then it was OK maybe some poor clone STK,s.
Check any filter caps in Reg circuit as well.

Put the original STK back, I'm sure it's fine. Replace the two electrolytics in
the circuit before turning it back on. Either the STK was an "SK" (chinese
ripoff junk copy), or the TV was off long enough for the two electrolytics to
ESR themselves silly to take out the STK.

BTW, are you sure the fly was bad? Uncommon failure for the 187.
