3.5 mm female stereo jack help

how can i wire up speakers to a female jack so that when i plug in the headphones the speakers will stop and the headphones will take over (the female jack has five pins comming out of it and just want to wire up two speakers and they both only have to wires so can anybody help

Find that sockets datasheet or a similar one with the same pin out and figure out what breaks or makes when plugged in, verify yours works that way... Once you have that figured out you might be able to do what you want...

If it has 5 connections, they are probably common, tip, ring, tip switch, and ring switch.

The common connection goes to your common connection...

The tip and ring connections go to your left and right channel,

The switched tip and ring go to the speakers (along with the common)

As the plug is inserted, the switched contacts open, turning of the speakers, leaving just the headset (or whatever) connected.

What do you mean by common connection
