Just to make sure I've got your instructions correct, (before I screw it up) please see the pic I've attached. Thanks
edit:
Or, after posting above, (and looking at it with a better magnifying glass) I think maybe I should be connecting the 2 ends of where the resistor was?? (See "take 2" pic)

Sorry, no, the two pads that need to be connected together are at the two ends of the diagonal green line in my picture. One of them is one side of the resistor you need to remove, and the other is on a different component.

Well, I sure had that wrong! Somehow I thought the green line was just pointing to the resistor! Just goes to show you, better to ask before jumping in feet first! I'll complete my assignment tonight and report the results.
As always,
many thanks!

I've completed the task. Oh, I guess you want to know if it works. Well, hell yes, it works perfectly! Even the LEDs work. The red one comes on with power, and the blue one stays on during the timing cycle. I was so happy that the first one worked I went ahead and did the second one so I'll have a spare, should the need ever arise.

So now I have all the parts I need for the project, except for the box to put them in. I'll pick that up tomorrow and see if I can't get the whole thing together ASAP.

I'll let you know how the story ends.

Can't thank you enough.
