2-2.4V to 3V step-up converter (aimed at 200mA).

    Hello there.

    Been wondering how to design a really cheap step-up converter that would
    accept input voltages from 2 up to 2.4V and provide with 3V, 200mA as an
    output for IR LED transmitter. My first idea was to go about PIC10F200
    as a steering logic, inductor, diode, switching transistor and a few of
    resistors. Now, efficiency about 50-60% seems to be perfectly normal.
    How would you go about this problem? I aim at a total components price
    of $0.5 ish for a bulk production and SMD components. Is this feasible
    at all? On the other hands, if you know any dedicated components that
    are cheaper in bulk quantities, please recommend them to me :)
