    complete newbie here
Also might be a stupid question

Can I combine 2 12v ac lighting transformers to make 1 24v ac transformer

I have lots of spare 12v transformers but I need 24v ac to run the lighting on a beer pump

    Thanks in advance

    Jason

    Yes.

You need to connect the secondary windings in series and in phase.
If they are in phase, you will get about 12 volts (addition); if not in phase, a small voltage (the difference).

The permissible load current will be dependent on the smaller transformer ratings.

Just to make it more explicit. Connect the primary windings in parallel and the secondary in series. You will either get 24V or near 0V. If you do not get 24V reverse the leads on one of the secondaries.
