I purchased 100x 1N4007 from Amazon. I observed that they are smaller than the ones I used to use.
Today I observed that at 0.8A they are getting very warm (almost hot). At 1A I cannot keep my finger on them. Is this normal?

(No documentation was provided by the seller).

At 1A the rated Vf is about 0.9V, so the dissipation is 0.9W. Expect the diode to get uncomfortably hot.

Can you post a photo of them with a ruler or something beside them for scale.

Also, if you can measure the voltage drop across them at some known current, it would help confirm what's been said earlier.

If the diodes are smaller than normal then they are fakes.

Well, if you're expecting something the size of a 1N5404, then smaller is ok. If it's smaller than a 1N4001, then yeah, that's a strong possibility.
