Can anyone explain to me what this is all about? "About 150 trucks
full of ice purchased for hurricane victims along the Gulf Coast are
sitting uselessly in a parking lot in Maine, running refrigeration
units 24 hours a day to stay cool at taxpayer expense." Apparently
that's down from 250 trucks full of ice sitting in Maine. Sheesh!
Yes, it's been unusually warm in NE lately, but this is ridiculous.

Win Hill, you Liberal Weenie! ;-) (think, "Jane, you ignorant slut") ;-)

You've elided paragraph 2:

"Confronted with the traveling-ice snafu and a stream of other wasteful
practices, R. David Paulison, acting director of the Federal Emergency
Management Agency, promised a panel of senators on Thursday he will find
ways to deliver aid without squandering taxpayer dollars."

Cheers!

A scientist, name of Win Hill

Keeps on harassing him

Right, but with a 1000-mile range! Either that, or they can
watch the news to find out what's going on, and where things
are, like Brown did on that famous Thursday evening.

To go along with that said:

OOTC: Do those trucks do their cooling with Peltier devices?
that's down from 250 trucks full of ice sitting in Maine. Sheesh!

"She said FEMA officials on Thursday morning acknowledged that about
250 such trucks somehow had been routed to Maine, and that 100 of them
had since been dispatched to the Texas coast devastated by Hurricane
Rita."

You mean they didn't send them NORTH to replace all the melting
Arctic ice???
Yes, it's been unusually warm in NE lately, but this is ridiculous.

To be honest about my reaction, when I see an electronics author
posting on an electronics newsgroup, I'm really hoping the content
will be about...

No, too inefficient. The one's I've seen use compressors, though I
suppose they could use propane (amonia-water cycle) too.

"Get 'em outta here!"

"Where boss?"

"I don't give a $#|+, send 'em to the President's dad for cocktails, for
all I care!"

"Right boss!".
