Hello,

I need a 12V (car) to 4.8V DC power converter. Tight budget, low
energy consumption. Even though it's inefficient, a linear step down
converter would work.

I'm looking for a circuit design. Can anyone please help?

Thanks,
Hilbert

You might build one based on the common-as-dirt LM317
adjustable linear regulator.

In addition to the normal capacitors, you should also
probably add an anti reverse connection, input series diode.
