    Thanks for your reply davenn thats great! No the fuse on the board is fine, its a 8A fuse. The 3A in the plug blew first. Ah ok so the component that emitted the flash acts as a surge protector?     Ive just held it up to the light and had a closer look and the component in question does have a marking on it, it very faintly says SCK 054 hope this helps?
