    there are little flat spots on the leads, also, i tested right were the leads bend to get my readings... also im not sure what you mean about an inductor. I am very new so im not sure if maybe the color codes are different for an inductor etc? p.s. this 'item' is out of a home stereo...

    I put my probe tips onto the leads closer to the resistor housing. about where the leads start to bend, is that ok?

    Hi all, I have a photo below of the resistor im trying to read. I have determined via a color chart the following yellow - 4 violet - 7 silver - x 0.01 bronze - 1%? this would give me a resistance value of .47 I just got a fluke multimeter and i turned it to the ohms feature...
