Altenatives to soldering
How old do you have to be???? Maybe that's why I can't solder either :) Like others said, it depends on what your project is, if you're building a PCB then defy your dad and do soldering behind the shed where he can't see... if it's a few leaded components then you might mount them on a panel...- willd1971

My first soldering iron, advice needed.
This may be more than you're looking for at the moment at £80 but perhaps worth a look, it's a combined soldering iron with hot air gun - both are incredibly useful for project work, you can adjust temperatures and change nozzles/tips depending on what kind of work you're doing...- willd1971
