Hi I was just wondering this, would you damage a 12v film or electrolytic capacitor if you connect both side to 12v? I don't see why it would as there is no potential electrical difference right?

Now if it wouldn't at 12v, would it at say 24v or 50v connected to both sides?

Are both legs at the same voltage? Or for example, is one at +12 Volts RTG and the other +18? (Reference to Ground).

Take a 22mfd capacitor and a 12v battery. Solder both leads together. Touch it to the positive post and see what happens. Now What Purpose does it serve?
