Cool, it's amazing the things you learn just reading other peoples posts!
Can the OP post the results as I would like to know just because I am curious. I am still learning too.

There's the data sheet for these cells but it still doesn't answer your question as there are so many variables, cell condition etc.

Maybe ask on the site and the guys here will be able to...
At 80 years old and even older than 80 years old, I bet you know a lot of stuffs between you both! What you don't know you'll be able to make a wee porky up about something similar that you do know about and "wing it" and pretend you know everything! Ha Ha! :p
If you look on "ebay" or whatever most of the cheap few quid screwdriver sets have the bit you need.

What fluke do you own?
They must change it quite a bit on all their meters.
I have the 177 and 289. The 177 uses a 9v battery and gives out over 7v on the diode test. The 289 uses 6 x AA’s and gives out 5.2v ish. I have the Brymen 867s too which gives out a poor 2.9v, one feature where I feel...
I think you stuck with the 1.6v unless you really know how the insides work. There probably will be a way to change it but I doubt it will be as simple as changing a battery out.
In saying that there are some very clever guys on the forum so one may have an easy fix for you.
Good luck however...
I just pulled a 74ACT04 from a board I got from an old Samsung TV I am taking apart. It was made back in 2003! I like getting the chips off the boards and using google to see what they are and what they do and try and figure out how they all work together. I learn better that way. Reverse...
Neat idea!
There's something about old test gear I love too. I love all old test gear though not just the gauges.
I'm still relatively new to electronics so can't help you sort something out but I have no doubts the guys here will have a way to make them gauges do whatever you want them to...
I have the Hakko iron stand that has the sponge and brass wool in the front. It came with my fx-888 and is well handy!
Like Dave I use both as required. I have heard it said that a damp sponge is not so good for the tips but to be honest if they guys here use it and say it's ok it's for sure...
I don't think there are a lot of big changes. Just subtle ones, but all good ones. The site seems to pop out at you a bit more making things easier to see and follow. The site was well set out anyways and the changes have just made a great site better I think.
Well done Ian! :)
I logged in today and see the site has a nice new look! I for one think it's a good change. It's fresh and more up to date and any of the small changes I see I like!
When did the changes take place? :)
Post a clear picture of a couple of the resistors you are trying to measure and someone here will tell you roughly what your meter should read. You'll be doing well to get a resistor to measure exactly what the stripes say it should.
A clear picture will help loads! :)
