My local Ace Hardware has Powertrain PTG6500EXCS electric start 6500 Watt
generators on sale for $750. Anyone know anything about these units or this
    company?
    TIA

Look at the Generac site, many, even Sears has rebadged Generacs. Does
it have pressure lube, oil filter, voltage regulation. It is likely a
300 - 3000 hr motor with unregulated power not completly safe with
circuits, more suited for saws. I say this because of price. To see real
quality look at Honda and Yamaha. A Generac 4000 exl at HD is a good
    deal, at 900.

How did they handle the repair? Did you have to ship the entire generator or
    just the engine?
What about labor? Surprised to see your reply - it's been 2 weeks since my
    post.
