Skewed? The public chooses what they want, it sounds like you couldn't give
it to them so they went elsewhere. That is called competition, instead of
whining about what people are buying I suggest you instead focus on what you
can offer them, its not ALL about low cost, if it was most people in this
newsgroup would have been out of work ages ago, instead they have found many
ways to compete with the mass marketers.
