After an extensive Google search, I am right where I have started. Basically my laptop's charger has blown. I have another charger of a different laptop though. My input requires 19v 3A, yet the other charger has an output of 20v 6A. My question is simply whether I can attach the broken charger's pin wire to the other charger's points. Would the 6A influence anything?

Thanking you in advance
Hunter

The 6A rating simply gives you a 3A headroom over the requirement and is a good thing. It could not have been swapped the other way around.
I believe the 1V extra won't damage anything, but I have no information or experience with how sensitive laptops may be to overvoltage.
Take care to get the polarity right anyway.

Wait. I've just noticed something. It now appears that the battery is not charging. It's running exclusively on AC power. This indicative of the fact that when I pull the charger pin, the entire laptop switches off. Does now mean I have fried the battery?

No, it probably just means you have a Dell computer.
