Are you living in Europe, UK?
Do you have a 433MHz wireless alarm system?
Be aware that those systems are muzzled with some wireless headphones
for TV or hi-fi.
The problem is not only that your alarm system is out of use during
headphone utilization but its not brought to your attention that it
don't protect your premises anymore from fire and/or intruder
detection and alarm giving.
How often may you expect/assume that this can happen?
Well thousands of wireless headphones have been sold all around Europe
in all kind of stores..
Ask you the question if there is a possibility that someone use one in
the vicinity of your wireless protected home.
If you are lucky and there is nobody with a wireless headphone in the
vicinity, well don't think that you are safe now, a multitude of other
transmitter sources may cause this alarm-muzzling problem and
depending on the power of that equipment it can happen at great
distance.
Of course some conditions have to be met by the transmitter who
disturb, the frequency and power is important for instance.
The wireless headphone story showed to me, and made apparent, how
sensitive wireless alarm systems are.
A 10-milliWatt transmitter (very low power) is enough to disturb your
system and you will not know it.
Realize also that when the system is installed, it's possible that
you have full operation of your system, but when something change..
In my case my system was functioning during 5 years without any
problem to my great satisfaction, no false alarm, nothing wrong at
least that's what i taught..
However, when i purchased that wireless headphone stuff my system was
muzzled during 1 year out of those 5 and i wasn't aware of it.
It's only by, let's say, some accident that i discovered the story..
Don't worry, professionals had no false alarm (real?) warning for
years, isn't that the proof that nothing happen, nothing is wrong?
Theyre wet finger fake measuring tool and years of experience.. well
that is something.
Good luck with your wireless system,
Paul
